Does Audible Plus Include All Books? (Explained)

If you’re considering an Audible subscription, trying to figure out exactly what’s included in the different options can be a bit confusing.

Even the names themselves are confusing: Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus. Why isn’t there an “Audible Basic?” What’s the difference between Plus and Premium Plus?

Well, today we’ll be taking a close look at the cheaper “Audible Plus” option, so keep reading to learn what exactly you get with an Audible Plus subscription.

Here’s What You Get with Audible Plus:

Audible Plus is the cheaper of the two subscription options offered by Audible.com. For $7.95 per month, you can listen to 10-11,000 audiobooks, podcasts, and many other Adio sources, with no additional charge, for as long as you have a valid subscription that has been paid.

How Many Books Do You Get with Audible Plus?

As covered above, Audible Plus allows unlimited access to a library of 10,000-11,000 audiobooks, podcasts, meditations, and other content, for as long as you’re subscribed.

While it may seem small compared to the full library you could access for about twice the price (more on that in a bit), this is still nothing to sneeze at.

Thousands of audiobooks and other content for only about 8 bucks a month is a pretty good deal, and ideal for those who want to keep monthly costs low and enjoy some audiobooks in their spare time.

How Many Books Do You Get with Audible Premium Plus?

Audible Premium Plus includes everything you get with Audible Plus, and significantly more, besides.

For $14.95 per month, you get access to a catalog of over 500,000 titles. That’s over 50 times as many titles for just under twice as much money per month!

Besides a larger library, you also get one “credit” per month which you can redeem for an audiobook that’s yours to keep, even if you cancel your subscription.

Needless to say, while it may be more expensive, Audible Premium Plus offers a better value ratio for your spending.

What Types of Books Are in the Audible Premium Catalog?

Honestly, both the full catalog available to Premium Plus subscribers and the more limited one available to Plus subscribers feature a healthy variety to choose from.

In both cases, you can choose from fiction, nonfiction, self-help, and various subgenres to boot.

The curated selection of 10-11,000 titles you get with Audible Plus seems to focus primarily on classics, bestsellers, and celebrity-affiliated works.

The full catalog of over 500,000 titles available to Premium Plus subscribers has a little of everything.

Actually, that’s not quite true, it has a lot of everything: whether you’re interested in escaping into a fantasy world, learning about real-world science, or just about anything in between, the Premium Plus catalog has you covered.

Why Do You Not Get Access to All Books with Audible Plus?

We’re probably the wrong people to ask this question since we didn’t make the rules here. But we certainly can speculate!

Often, cheaper subscription models like Audible Plus are designed to get you interested in a service at a cheaper cost of entry with the hope you’ll eventually “upgrade” to the pricier option.

See, if they gave you access to the full 500,000+ title catalog for only $7.95, even without the monthly credits, you might just keep using the cheaper option indefinitely.

Corporations’ primary goal is always to make as much money as possible, so naturally, they don’t want you to stick with the cheap option forever.

Basically, Amazon is probably counting on people who start with Audible Plus to eventually get frustrated with the limited selection and take the plunge into Premium Plus.

At the same time, the cheaper option might get people who never would have considered Audible at all to sign up in the first place.

And well, when you find out that your new favorite book series can only be accessed by upgrading to a more expensive subscription, and you get a book a month for keeps, that’s enough to convince a lot of folks to upgrade.

How Do I Check if Titles Are Included with Audible Plus or the Audible Premium Catalog?

There are a couple of ways of finding out which titles are included with which subscription plan.

You can check this list of all the titles included with Audible Plus. If it’s on this list, it’s one of those 10-11,000 titles you get with the cheaper subscription.

If you’re interested in the status of a specific book or series, you can also just search Amazon.com for the title(s) in question.

Once you’re looking at Amazon’s product page for the title, it should show you a lineup of all the ways you can access it, from direct purchase to Audible Plus or Premium Plus subscriptions, if applicable.

Is Audible Plus Included with Prime?

No, Audible Plus, Audible Premium Plus, and Amazon Prime are three separate subscription services that do not overlap.

The only exception to this rule is that Amazon will give you a one-time bonus of two extra credits (in addition to the one credit per month) if you start an Audible Premium Plus trial while subscribed to Amazon Prime.

This means that you can hit the ground running with three free books in your free-trial month of Audible Premium Plus, but it doesn’t make the subscription any cheaper once the paid period begins.

Much like the existence of Audible Plus, this promotional offer exists to lure potential new customers in the hopes that they’ll become paid subscribers once the trial ends.

For this reason, if you intend to use the trial as, well, a trial, make sure to cancel before the deadline if you decide you don’t like it!

Can I Keep Books I Listen to with Audible Plus?

No, while Audible Premium Plus gives you one credit per month for a title that’s yours to keep, Audible Plus has no such feature.

With Audible Plus, you can listen to any of the 10-11,000 titles in the catalog at any time, for as long as you’re a valid subscriber.

Once you cancel your subscription, you keep nothing and lose all access to anything you listened to.

Contrast this to Audible Premium Plus, where even after you cancel a subscription, you retain access to all the titles you purchased with your monthly “credits.”
