As an avid reader, I’ve been using Audible for years and have never looked back. The access to all the ever-expanding books has left me with tons of happy hours with my new favorite books. 

But the more books I listen to, the more questions I have about Audible’s list of books available.  

How Many Books Can You Have on Audible? 

There is no limit to the number of audiobooks you can have on Audible. You can buy as many books as possible, download them to your device, or stream them. You can see the titles you own in your library, which will remain yours even if you cancel the service.

Is There an Upper Limit of Books You Can Have on Audible? 

There is no upper limit to the number of books you can have on Audible. 

Audible will let you listen to all the books in your library, but if you want to listen to more audiobooks, you’ll need an Audible membership or to buy them. 

All their memberships include access to their Plus Catalog, which has more than 11,000 original titles. 

Are All Books You Purchase Yours Forever? 

Audible is a subscription service. That means you pay a monthly fee and can download as many audiobooks as you want. 

But are all the books you purchase with your credit or credit card yours to keep forever? 

Thankfully, all titles you purchase from Audible with a credit or credit card are yours to keep forever. 

Even if your membership lapses, these titles will remain on your device—you won’t have access to new ones until the next subscription begins. 

Not only that, but any audiobooks purchased using credits are yours forever to stream or download on as many devices as you want. 

Do You Keep Your Books After Canceling Your Subscription? 

You can keep all audiobooks you have purchased if you have an active subscription. You may also keep any free audiobooks given to you as part of Audible’s deals. 

If your Audible membership is canceled, however, any books that are currently free will be deleted from your library. Any books that have already been downloaded remain in your library for as long as they remain available on Amazon or Audible. 

This can lead some people to ask whether or not they should cancel their subscription now or later, so they don’t lose access to their favorite titles—but there’s no need. 

You can keep a copy of any title forever because once it’s downloaded into your device’s library and saved on its memory card/disk space (if applicable), it belongs entirely to whoever owns whatever device it contains at any time. 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Other Audiobook Apps? 

Audible offers over 200,000 audiobooks for purchase and download.

While it may not have the largest library, it is the fastest-growing audiobook-driven platform. 

Google Play Books has over 100,000 audiobooks available for purchase. Even though Google is a much bigger company, they lack quantity compared to Audible. Audible also grows and updates its titles more regularly than any of the apps on this list.

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Scribd? 

Scribd is a subscription service that allows you to access over 1 million books, 40,00 audiobooks, and comics for a monthly fee of $8.99. 

Scribd has over 40,000 audiobooks available in its library, but only 20% of those are exclusive to the site. 

Scribd is limited by what they offer through their app, unlike other Audiobook apps like Audible, which allow you to access any book anywhere regardless of whether they offer it on their app. 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Apple Books? 

There are a lot of audiobook apps out there, and it’s hard to know which one is right for you. I’ve been using Audible for years, so let me tell you how it stacks up against Apple Books (and other services). 

Audible has over 200,000 audiobooks available on its service. You can listen to them on your phone or computer using the app or in your car via Bluetooth speakers, basically on any device that has access to Audible (most of them).  

Apple Books is strictly limited to Apple devices, which can be annoying if not all your household devices are Apple. 

Apple Books doesn’t clarify how many audiobooks they have available but says they have “thousands” of titles from big publishers. 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compare to Google Play Books? 

Audible has over 200,000 titles, so if you enjoy audiobooks or podcasts that someone else reads out loud, this is an excellent option for your needs. 

Google Play Books has over 50,000 titles and is better suited for those who prefer to read rather than listen.

However, you can also find some books on Google Play on Audible but not vice versa (you won’t find all of them). 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Libi? 

If you’re familiar with the two major audiobook services, Audible and Libi, you may have noticed that they have vastly different numbers of titles on their platforms. 

For example, while Audible has over 200,000 audiobooks available for purchase or subscription (as of this writing), Libi only has around 60,000.

This disparity is because both companies operate very differently:

• Audible is owned by Amazon and operates as a standalone business within its ecosystem.
• Meanwhile, Libi is more like an exclusive boutique—it only serves listeners subscribed to its service. 

Both companies offer a lot of content to choose from today, but if you want access to all of it, choosing which one suits your needs best will depend on what matters most to your listening habits and preferences. 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Audiobooks.com? 

Audible has around 200,000 titles, and audiobooks.com has around 300,000 titles. 

Audible is a much larger company than audiobooks.com, and audiobooks.com has been around longer than Audible. 

How Many Books Does Audible Have Compared to Hoopla? 

If you’re looking for an audiobook service to complement your Audible subscription, you might be tempted by hoopla. 

Audible has over 200,000 audiobooks available to purchase or rent. Hoopla has over 50,000 audiobooks available to check out. 

Audible offers a huge selection of titles, while hoopla has a more limited selection (although they’re adding more daily). 

How Many New Books Can You Listen to Per Month? 

You can listen to one new monthly book for your active subscription using credits. 

You will get 1 free extra credit if you are an Audible Premium Plus member, giving you access to two free books. 

However, you can listen to as many as you want without using credits by buying them outright from Amazon or Audible. 

How Many Free Books Can You Have on Audible? 

There is no limit to the number of free books that you can have on the app, which is great news for anyone who wants to binge their way through all the classics without breaking the bank. 

If you’re a member of Audible, you have access to the entire selection of books from Audible.com, which includes titles from some of the world’s top publishers, like Penguin Random House and HarperCollins. 

The number of new titles available is determined by your membership plan and the number of credits you have at the beginning of each month. The more credits you have, the more new audiobooks are available for download. 

If you’re unsure what your monthly credit limit is, go to “My Account” on the Audible website and click on “View Account Details.” From there, look for “Credit Limit.” 

Can You Return Audible Books to Get Access to More Books? 

You can return an Audible book within 365 days of purchasing it with your Audible account.

However, you can’t return an Audible book for the sole reason of getting access to more books. Meaning: if you want to refund every book you purchase just to swindle hundreds of books for the price of one, you are out of luck.

Audible is strict about refunds and will need conclusive evidence that you are unsatisfied. Therefore you can also not abuse the service.
