The Apple Music Family plan allows for up to 6 users, including the person in charge of the plan.

The person in your family who initiates the plan will also be responsible for the monthly $14.99 subscription fee.

However, if you have more than six people, you will not be able to sign up for every person for this plan. This is because Apple does not offer any extra add-ons for users. So, in this case, you will have to purchase individual plans for anyone outside the six people you choose to be on your plan.

Is the Apple Music Family Plan Better than the Spotify Family Plan?

When comparing Apple Music Family to Spotify Family, the first thing to note is the price difference.

While Apple Music Family starts at $14.99/month for up to 6 family members, Spotify’s family plan starts at $15.99/month.

So, if you base your decision solely on how much money you are spending, Apple Music Family is the slightly cheaper option.

However, one thing that Spotify offers Apple Music Family does not offer is the “duo deal.” The Spotify Duo Plan is a plan meant for just two people, which comes in at the cost of $12.99/month. This is a great option for smaller families who want to save money since a regular Spotify plan costs $9.99 per person.

Suppose you care more about content than price. Apple Music Family has a leg up on the Spotify Family Plan.

Even though both streaming services have an impressive library of music to choose from, Apple Music has over 90 million titles compared to Spotify, which features 70 million. This includes international music as well as podcasts.

However, when it comes to podcasts, Spotify takes the crown since it has the rights to far more podcast titles and networks compared to Apple Music.

Another thing to consider when comparing Apple Music to Spotify is the quality of the music. While Spotify has amazing quality, Apple offers high-resolution when paired with Apple products like speakers and headphones.

The last thing to note is that even though both Apple Music and Spotify seem pretty neck and neck when it comes to price and features, Apple has one major perk you will not get with the Spotify Family Plan.

Apple Music Family comes with pretty hefty iCloud storage. This is perhaps where Apple Music has Spotify beat. With iCloud, you can save and store many more music and podcasts without worrying about using your phone’s storage space.

Since Spotify does not have storage, anything you download will be saved directly to your phone, which can quickly eat up your storage space.
