The Parent Unit on My Bt Baby Monitor Is Not Making Any Sounds

The parent unit on your BT baby monitor should keep you in the loop by producing the sound that it receives from the room that your baby is in. You should be able to hear your baby’s cry and any other sounds that are present.

If you are not receiving any audio from your parent unit, then it’s understandable that you’d be concerned. The likely causes for this issue are as follows:

  1. One or both of your units are not charged:
    • If either your baby unit or parent unit has run out of charge, then they cannot connect to one another. This will cause no audio from your parent unit.
    • You need to ensure that you plug your units into the mains and fully charge them.
  2. Your parent unit’s speaker is set on mute:
    • If your speaker is set to mute or the volume level is set too low then it will either be impossible or very difficult for you to hear your baby from the parent unit.
    • Ensure that you set the volume on the parent unit’s speaker to a level that is suitable for the environment you are in.
  3. The parent unit is not adequately close enough to the baby unit:
    • It’s important to remember that baby units have a range in which they can operate within.
    • Try moving the units closer to one another, but more than one meter apart.
    • Do note that electrical devices and big objects composed of metal can also disrupt the signal. Relocate devices or objects away from either unit to test whether this is causing the issue.
  4. The units need to be reset because of a malfunction:
    • As with many devices in the home, sometimes a reset is needed to fix a malfunction such as a disruption in audio from your parent unit.
    • Switching on and off the baby unit can sometimes work without needing to reset everything. Try switching off the baby unit and waiting 15 seconds before turning it back on.
    • Full reset instructions can be found further down in this article.

My BT Baby Monitor’s Parent Unit Keeps Beeping

A repetitive beeping from your BT parent unit may have you worried, but there are some good reasons it may do that:

  • The baby unit is no longer switched on.
  • The units are not close enough to each other.
  • The parent unit is running out of battery.

If your parent unit is beeping because the baby unit is no longer connected to it then you should immediately check your baby unit and see whether the connection has been lost because that unit has run out of charge.

If this is the case, charge the baby unit and then see if the beeping persists.

A persistent beep can also signal that your connection between the units is not strong enough. Once you reduce the distance between them you should find that the beeping ceases.

The sudden situation of a beeping parent unit could also be alerting you to the fact that you need to charge the parent unit.

Although a beeping parent unit may sound annoying, it is a very helpful feature that ensures that your BT baby monitor is working at optimal conditions.

My BT Baby Monitor is Producing a High-Pitched Noise

If your BT baby monitor is making a high-pitched whine, then the cause and solution are probably simple. It’s the same thing that happens with any microphone and speaker system.

If they are too close together, then they are going to feedback and the result is that unpleasant sound.

Remember, keep the units away from each other and in different rooms.

My BT Baby Monitor’s Sound Activated Screen Won’t Work

If you’re having trouble with the sound-activated screen feature on your BT baby monitor you should ensure that you have it properly enabled.

Enabling your sound activated screen on your bt baby monitor:

  • Select ‘Menu‘ and then press >
  • Now press dB
  • Tick the icon that shows enabling the feature
  • If you find that the feature is enabled then you need to check that the Parent unit is automatically set to switch on and off. Continue with the next steps to ensure that it is.
  • Again press Menu followed by >
  • Now tap the ‘Play/Pause‘ symbol and then ‘OK’
  • Set the time for either 1,3, or 5 minutes by using the ^ or ˅ respectively
  • Now press ‘OK’.

The Camera on my BT Baby Monitor is not Linked

It’s easy to know whether or not your camera is paired as this will be indicated by the images from your camera being displayed on the screen, coupled with the camera icon that should be seen in the top corner of your display.

If you’re having problems linking your baby unit’s camera to the parent unit just follow this step-by-step guide to re-link them:

  • Ensure the parent unit is in the mode for ‘camera viewing‘ and then press ‘Menu’.
  • Find the ‘Camera‘ icon and select it.
  • Using the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ buttons, assign a number and then confirm it by choosing ‘OK’.
  • Next, press and hold the ‘Link’ button at the back of your camera and wait until you hear a beep.
  • The image from your camera should now appear on your screen.

If these steps did solve your camera issue then it may be time to perform a reset of your camera.

I Cannot Switch Off the Light on the Baby Unit

You may have noticed a small amber light on your BT baby monitor’s baby unit and you might have tried switching it off.

However, it is not possible to deactivate this light or reduce its brightness.

BT have stated that despite users not having the option to switch it off, they can cover it if they wish:

  • Covering the light will not impact the functionality of the BT Baby Monitor.
  • All functions will still work correctly.

The Temperature Displayed on my BT Monitor is not Correct

BT baby monitors show the temperature in your baby’s room, however, you may have noticed that the temperature displayed on your monitor does not align with your own temperature gauge.

This difference in readings may cause you to wonder whether your BT baby monitor is malfunctioning, but you shouldn’t worry:

  • The temperature displayed on BT baby monitors is only an indication of the current temperature.
  • Temperatures can vary in accuracy between 2 degrees.
  • If you are receiving no indication of temperature or a temperature that far exceeds expectations then this may be due to a fault in the temperature sensor.
  • Replacement parts can be ordered through BT.

The Image Displayed from the Camera is Very Blurry

If you are finding that the image displayed from your camera is not up to scratch it may not be due to an internal fault.

A likely cause of a blurry image is that the lens is dusty or greasy. A build-up of grime on the lens can be easily solved with a simple clean

Remember, always use a microfiber cloth when cleaning lenses or, if you do not have one, make sure the cloth you do use is soft and dry. Never use chemical liquids or anything that is abrasive when cleaning your camera’s lens.
