The VAVA is a rather new brand to many new parents as we don’t know them from many other home tech products.
This article will cover the different aspects of VAVA baby monitors when it comes to range and signal reception. But note, that Vava baby monitors may be hard to come by.
Let’s dive in.
Here’s the Range of VAVA Baby Monitors:
The VAVA Baby Monitor has a range of up to 900 feet. However, this range is based on the baby monitor being placed in optimal conditions. If you have a large house or apartment it can get obstructed by walls, ceilings, doors and windows.
What VAVA Baby Monitor Has the Best Range?
There are many factors that determine the range of a baby monitor.
The most important is the type of signal used by the unit. The VAVA units use a standard wireless signal (not the DECT signal).
The range of these baby monitors is quite similar to the range of Goodbaby Baby Monitors.
How Long Do Baby Monitors Generally Reach?
The most important factor in determining a baby monitor’s range is the type of technology used. If you have an older model, it may not have as much range as newer models.
The DECT technology is used for some of the longer range models. Motorola’s baby monitors use this for good range.
The DECT technology is a wireless technology we also know from a landline phone, and it will typically offer around 1,000 feet range to a baby monitor.
Check the demographics of landline users.
Other models typically have around 600-900 feet range.
If you live in a large house or apartment building, you may find that some baby monitors don’t work well if there are a lot of walls and other obstacles between you and your baby’s room.
Range depends on many factors, including the number of walls between camera and parent unit.
Walls made out of concrete or other heavy and dense materials can limit signal strength, which reduces the range at which the camera or sound can be sent to the parent unit.
How Stable Is the Signal Over Longer Distances?
The Vava Baby Monitor has a claimed range of up to 900 feet (around 274 meters), which is more than enough for most homes.
However, this is only true if you have a clear line of sight between the camera and the receiver.
If there are any obstacles in between them – such as walls or trees – then the signal will be weaker and could be lost altogether in some cases.
Can You Extend the Range of VAVA Baby Monitors?
VAVA Baby Monitors are designed to be used in your home, but you can use them anywhere.
The VAVA Baby Monitor app is great for monitoring your baby when you’re out of the house because you can use the app across any device, including your phone, tablet or computer.
But what if you want to take your monitor with you and still be able to get notifications about your baby?
You can open the baby unit and install a better antenna in the unit. It will have an antenna that probably looks like a little bent piece of metal (looks like a folded-out paper clip) and you can take that part off by using a soldering iron.
Now you can mount the female mounting piece for a wifi antenna that will do a much better job.
You can see a video here of how it can be done pretty quickly if you have the right gear:
Why Does My VAVA Baby Monitor Say “Out of Range”?
One of the biggest issues with this type of technology is that it can sometimes be subject to interference from other electronic devices, such as televisions or electronic equipment.
This can cause the monitor to lose its signal and display an “out of range” error message.
When that happens you will hear a sound to warn you that the signal is lost. This typically only happen if you’re getting too far away, but as mentioned, it can also happen if there are too many thick walls.
You can also experience this 900 feet range to get a lot lower if we’re talking vertical distance.
As soon as you move up or down the floors in an apartment building you will not have 900 feet range. This is because the deck between the stories is made of concrete and it will not do well transmitting with baby monitor signals.
Most baby monitors will reach up to 500 feet with no issues. However, it’s important to take into account the environment you’re in when using the monitor.
If you live in a large house or your child is not in their room, then this range may be too limited for you.
The video quality on VAVA monitors is incredible and allows you to see everything from every angle of your child’s room. The two-way talk feature lets you talk to your baby while they are sleeping so they don’t wake up when they hear a noise or need something during the night.
